A cake smash is such a fun and joyful way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday.

Once a playful idea from the US, cake smash photography has quickly become a favourite here in the UK. It’s messy, exciting and full of laughter, and no two babies ever react the same way when their very own cake appears.

Some little ones throw themselves into the fun with both hands, while others take their time, gently exploring the icing or nibbling at the edges. However they choose to enjoy it, it is a beautiful chance to capture their personality and the magic of the moment.

At Little Steps Photography my aim is for your baby to have the best experience. We sing, play, blow bubbles and enjoy the moment while I capture every smile, giggle and crumb-covered grin.

We begin by picking out a few lovely outfits from my studio wardrobe, filled with designer and organic pieces. Then the games and fun begin until it is time for the main event, the cake. Once the smashing is done, any leftovers are carefully boxed for you to take home.

The session finishes with a splash in my mini roll top bath, a part babies always love. It is the perfect ending to a day filled with smiles and results in some of the most adorable, happy images.
